John Nicholas Wurm (born December 6, 1927 in St. Louis , Missouri , United States , † April 27, 1984 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Belleville .

Life

John Nicholas Wurm received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis on April 3, 1954 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 25, 1976 titular bishop of Plestia and auxiliary bishop in Saint Louis. The Archbishop of Saint Louis, Cardinal John Carberry , ordained him episcopal on August 17th of that year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Alphonse McNicholas , Bishop of Springfield, Illinois , and Charles Herman Helmsing , Bishop of Kansas City-Saint Joseph .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Belleville on September 19, 1981 . The inauguration took place on November 4th of the same year.
