John Pål Inderberg (born August 6, 1950 in Steinkjer ) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone).

Live and act

Inderberg studied at the University of Trondheim ; He also played in the Bodega Band, with which the first recordings were made in 1973. In the late 1970s he worked a. a. with Bjørn Alterhaug and Gunnar Andreas Berg ; In 1981 he toured with Gil Evans & The Scandinavian Jazz Ensemble (consisting of Palle Mikkelborg , Albert Mangelsdorff , Eje Thelin , Bernt Rosengren , Juhani Aaltonen , Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Jon Christensen ). In the 1980s he was a member of the New Cool Quartet (with Age Midtgaard , Bjørn Alterhaug, Espen Rud ) and played with Warne Marsh ( In Norway / Sax of a Kind ) and Bob Brookmeyer , and in the following decade with Lee Konitz ( Steps Towards a Dream ), also with Jan Erik Vold and Knut Kristiansen. In the field of jazz he was involved in 27 recording sessions from 1973 to 2011, including a. also with Flettfrid Andrèsen, Heidi Skjerve, Trygve Hoff, Silje Nergaard , Espen Rud , the band Gluntan and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra . He taught at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music. He was honored with the Buddy Prize of the Norwegian Jazz Federation in 1990 , a Gammleng Prize in 2005 and the Lindeman Prize in 2010.
