John P. Connell

John P. Connell (born October 28, 1923 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † September 10, 2015 in Woodland Hills , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Connell served as a radio operator and gunner on board a B-24 during World War II . He completed 43 missions and was awarded the Purple Heart . After the war he studied journalism at the University of Missouri . There he met his future wife Mila, with whom he was married until his death and had two children. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. He got his first television role in the 1949 science fiction series Captain Video and His Video Rangers. In the 1950s he appeared in numerous live television productions, including his most famous role as Dr. David Malone in the soap opera Young Dr. Malone . He also appeared on Broadway in the mid-1950s . His appearances in feature films are limited to small roles in Moscow , The Three Days of Condor and Family Business .

In the 1960s, his focus shifted from acting to voice-over . He said radio and television commercials for companies such as Xerox , Procter & Gamble , Ford and McDonald's and worked in 1967 as a teller at the performance of Man of La Mancha for US President Lyndon B. Johnson in the White House with. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Screen Actors Guild for 13 years .
