John Podhoretz

John Mordecai Podhoretz (born April 18, 1961 in New York City ) is an American conservative publicist and former speechwriter .

Life

Podhoretz was born the son of the conservative publicists Norman Podhoretz and Midge Decter . He grew up in New York's Upper West Side neighborhood and attended Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School. He then studied at the University of Chicago . Podhoretz was speechwriter for US Presidents Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush . He worked as a consultant for the television series The West Wing - In the Center of Power . He published in u. a. National Review , The Weekly Standard , US News & World Report , New York Post , Time, and The Washington Times . He was also a political commentator on Fox News and CNN . Podhoretz is the editor of the monthly Commentary . He is married and has three children.
