John Rosengrant
John Rosengrant (* 20th century ) is a makeup and special effects artist who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2012 for Real Steel .
Life
He studied fine arts at Louisiana State University . He then moved to California, where he worked for Stan Winston , an expert in special effects and make-up design, at Stan Winston Studios from 1983 . In 1984 he worked on the special effects of The Terminator on his first feature film The Terminator. Films such as Predator , Interview with a Vampire , Sixth Sense and Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines followed in the following years .
After the death of Stan Winston in 2008 he established the company with three other longtime employees Lindsay MacGowan , J. Alan Scott and Shane Mahan Studio Legacy Effects . There he worked in the following years as a studio coordinator on films such as The Hunger Games - The Hunger Games , Avatar - Aufbruch nach Pandora and Iron Man 2 . In 2012 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for Real Steel together with Erik Nash , Dan Taylor (animation technician) and Swen Gillberg .
