John Ross III (* 27. November 1994 in Long Beach , California ) is an American American football poker players. He plays the position of wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL).

college

John Ross spent four years at the University of Washington playing for the Washington Huskies team . For the first two years of college, Ross played 13 games each for his team. He achieved a total of 579 yards and 5 touchdowns in his passing game in his first two years . But Ross drew attention to himself mainly through his above-average performance as a kick returner . In his sophomore season at college, Ross ran the most return yards in the Pacific-12 Conference in the 2014 season. In addition to a strong 938 yards in kick return , Ross also achieved two return touchdowns in the same season. Together with Trevor Davis and Adoree 'Jackson , he ran the most kickoff return touchdowns in the Conference 2014. In the 2015 season Ross could not complete a single game due to a knee injury. So he stayed in college for another year. Last year in college, John Ross made his breakthrough as a wide receiver. In 14 games he reached 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns as a pass recipient. For the achievements in his senior year for the Huskies, Ross was elected to the first team of the Pac-12 Conference.

NFL Combine

In the 2017 NFL Combine , John Ross ran the fastest time ever in the 40 yard dash des Combines with 4.22 seconds. With that, Ross also broke Chris Johnson's nine-year-old record .

Cincinnati Bengals

In the 2017 NFL Draft , Ross was selected in the first round as 9th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals . After Corey Davis and Mike Williams , John Ross was the third wide receiver to be drafted in 2017. He signed his rookie contract with the Bengals on May 7, 2017 . He was awarded a four-year contract worth $ 17.1 million . Ross made his debut in week 2 of the 2017 season playing against the Houston Texans . In total, Ross was only on the field of 17 snaps in his first professional season , spread over 3 stakes. Here he could not book a single passport catch for himself. He only actively intervened in the action on his debut with a 12-yard run, but he fumbled the ball at the end of the play and thus ensured a turnover . Ross was only on the field in so few snaps due to injuries during his rookie season. At the beginning of December he was also put on the Injured Reserve List by the Bengals . The second NFL season ( 2018 ) began more successfully for Ross, in the first game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts he was able to catch a pass over 3 yards and also scored a touchdown with it. In the fourth week in the victory over the Falcons , Ross provided a highlight in the game with a 39-yard touchdown. With 210 yards in 13 games, Ross fell short of expectations in his second NFL season. However, he was able to prove himself to be a safe target for Andy Dalton in the end zone with 7 touchdowns . Ross started his third season ( 2019 ) furiously. After just 2 games he had gained 270 yards more yards for his team than in the entire season before. In addition, he caught 3 touchdowns in the two games. In week 4, however, the next setback came for Ross, he injured himself again and was then placed on the Injured Reserve List by the Bengals. Then he played the last 4 games of the season, but could not achieve another touchdown for his team in these. Ultimately, Ross ended his third season in the NFL with 506 yards of space and 3 touchdowns.
