John Rashalld Salmons (born December 12, 1979 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player . Most recently he played for the New Orleans Pelicans team in the NBA .

High school and college careers

With the team from Plymouth Whitemarsch High School Salmons won the 1997 Pennsylvania High School State Championship. After high school he played at the University of Miami in Florida .

NBA career

Salmons was selected in the 2002 NBA Draft in 26th place by the San Antonio Spurs , who immediately traded him on to the Philadelphia 76ers .

On July 24, 2006, he signed a multi-year contract with the Sacramento Kings . In the game against the Denver Nuggets he succeeded on December 22, 2006 with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, the first triple-double of his NBA career.

On February 18, 2009, Salmons joined the Chicago Bulls with Brad Miller in exchange for Drew Gooden , Andrés Nocioni , Cedric Simmons and Michael Ruffin .

In the game against the Boston Celtics he succeeded on March 17, 2009 with 38 points scored his previous career best.

On February 18, 2010, he was traded for Joe Alexander and Hakim Warrick at the Milwaukee Bucks .

June 2011 he was transferred back to the Sacramento Kings . Salmons ran for the Kings until December 2013. On December 10, 2013, he was traded by the Kings to the Toronto Raptors . In return, Rudy Gay moved to California.

In the summer of 2014, Salmons joined the New Orleans Pelicans as a free agent . He has been without a club since February 2015.
