John Walter Flesey (born August 6, 1942 in Jersey City , New Jersey ) is an American Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Newark .

Life

John Walter Flesey was ordained a priest on May 31, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Newark and titular bishop of Allegheny on May 21, 2004 . The Archbishop of Newark John Joseph Myers donated him and Gaetano Aldo Donato episcopal ordination on August 4 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Arthur Joseph Serratelli , Bishop of Paterson , and Michael Angelo Saltarelli , Bishop of Wilmington .

On October 16, 2017, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
