John Eldon Zook (* 24. September 1947 in Garden City , Kansas ; † 6. June 2020 in Wichita , Kansas) was a US American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played in the National Football League (NFL) for a total of eleven years .

Early years

Zook grew up in Larned , Kansas . He later attended the University of Kansas .

NFL

Zook was selected 99th in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Rams . Zook, first traded with the Philadelphia Eagles , then with the Atlanta Falcons . He stayed here for seven years. In 1973 he was elected to the Pro Bowl . For the 1976 season he moved to the St. Louis Cardinals . He stayed there for another four years before ending his professional career.

Zook scored the first ever safety for the Atlanta Falcons in the 1971 season for the franchise , which was only founded in 1966.
