Jon Morris (born May 6, 1966 in Lowell , Massachusetts ) is a retired American ice hockey player . During his career he played for the New Jersey Devils , San Jose Sharks and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League and the Ratinger Löwen in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Morris first played four years from 1984 to 1988 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Hockey East of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . The center always collected more than 50 points per season. He had his best year in the season 1986/87 when he reached 61 points in 35 games and was appointed to the First All-Star Team of Hockey East.
After the American had been selected by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round in the fifth round in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft in 86th position , he switched to the professional camp for the 1988/89 season . There he played his first four appearances in the NHL that season . These were his only appearances during the season as he graduated from college. The following three seasons Morris spent between the NHL squad and the Devils farm team in the American Hockey League . During the 1992/93 season he was selected by the San Jose Sharks from the waiver list, but ran in only 13 games for the Sharks during the season. In October 1993, Morris was then transferred to the Boston Bruins , who mainly used him with the Providence Bruins in the AHL. These were his last stop in North America in the 1993/94 season , as he moved to Europe in the summer of 1994, also due to the lockout in the NHL.
There he first played in the Italian Serie A for HC Gherdëina . At the end of the 1994/95 season he was appointed to the US national team for the 1995 World Cup . His last professional position was in the 1995/96 season with the Ratinger Löwen in the German Ice Hockey League . There he reached six scorer points in four missions.
