Jon Wozencroft

Jon Wozencroft (born June 1, 1958 in Epsom , England ) is a British graphic designer , author and teacher. He is the founder of the independent multimedia publisher and music label Touch .

Live and act

Wozencroft studied at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication ). He worked as a writer for various publishing houses such as Reader's Digest and, together with numerous artists and musicians, as a graphic designer.

In 1982 he founded the multimedia publishing house Touch. Touch created a close collaboration with graphic designer Neville Brody . In 1988 Wozencroft published the highly regarded designer monograph The Graphic Language of Neville Brody through his colleagues . In 1990 Wozencroft founded the design project FUSE together with Brody , which as a foundry was primarily devoted to the development of experimental graphic design and typography as well as the sale of modern fonts (until 2000). Designers such as David Carson , Matthew Carter , Tibor Kalman, Vaughan Oliver , Erik Spiekermann and Cornel Windlin have worked at FUSE .

From 1992 Wozencroft taught as a lecturer at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design , where he introduced a new bachelor's degree in graphic design. In 1994 he became a tutor and assistant course director in the field of interactive multimedia design at the Royal College of Art . Today Wozencroft is Senior Tutor in the Communication Art and Design Department of the Royal College of Art.

Together with Geir Jenssen (Biosphere) Wozencroft released the MP3 / FLAC album Substrata 2.1 on their own label in 2010 .
