Jon Wright (born March 2, 1971 in Belfast ) is a Northern Irish film director and screenwriter who became internationally known for films such as Tormented , Grabbers and Robot Overlords .

life and career

Jon Wright, born 1971 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, has worked in the film business as a director and screenwriter since 1999, initially for short films such as The Routine , The Librarian's Dream and Fancy Dress , and since 2009 for the big screen.

In 2009 Wright directed Tormented, a horror film starring Alex Pettyfer , April Pearson and Dimitri Leonidas , which received a Narcisse Award nomination for Best Picture at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF). In 2012 he directed the award-winning horror comedy Grabbers with Richard Coyle , Ruth Bradley and Russell Tovey , in which he worked for the second time since Tormented with cameraman Trevor Forrest . Jon Wright won the NIFFF Audience Award and the Strasbourg International Film Festival Festival Audience Prize for his direction . He was also nominated as a director for the best film at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya .

Wright's third feature film, the science fiction film Robot Overlords, starring Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley , premiered at the London Film Festival on October 18, 2014 in the UK.
