Mathías Cubero , full name Jonathan Mathías Cubero Rieta (born January 15, 1994 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

According to his club, the goalkeeper, who is 1.84 meters tall, has been with the youth teams of Cerros since 2008 . At least since the 2010/11 season he was part of the squad of the Uruguayan first division club, for which he played a game in the Primera División in Apertura 2010 . In the Clausura 2013 he was able to book his second league appearance in the game on March 3, 2013 against Liverpool FC . In the 2013/14 season he ran three times in the Primera División. In the 2014/15 season he was used in nine top division games. At the end of September 2015, he moved to the second division club Atlético Torque . In the second division season 2015/16 he played 18 league games.

National team

Cubero made his debut on January 12, 2009 under coach Fabián Coito in Uruguay's U-15 team against Paraguay. In the same year he took part in the U-15 South American Championship held in Bolivia . In total, he played 16 games for the U-15s, in which he was defeated 21 times by the opponent. The first of his 30 U-17 internationals (22 goals against) he completed on June 23, 2010 against Chile as part of the Torneo Diario La Voz del Interior . Coito was the trainer here too. At the South American Championship in Ecuador and at the World Championship in Mexico in this age group, he was also part of the Uruguayan squad in 2011. With the Celeste he was Vice South American Champion and Vice World Champion. He played seven games at the World Cup and was subsequently named the tournament's best goalkeeper by FIFA in January 2012 . He was also part of the squad for the 2011 Pan American Games . There he won the bronze medal with Uruguay. On October 5, 2011 Cubero made his debut in this Uruguayan U-22 selection in the game against the Argentina U-20 national team. A total of two appearances for the Pan America team (U-22), which Juan Verzeri was in charge of at the time, have been noted for him. Cubero was part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez in the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics . Ultimately, however, he was not nominated. In Uruguay's U-20 team , he made his debut on June 8, 2012 against the USA. For Uruguay's U-20s, also trained by Verzeri, he was among other things also on June 30, 2012 in the match against the Chilean selection in the goal of the U-20s. He was also used in the game against Athletico Paranaense in late December 2012. At the beginning of 2013, Cubero was one of the nominated squad for the U-20 South American Football Championship 2013 in Argentina announced by the Uruguayan U-20 national coach . During the tournament he was used twice. In July 2013, he was then runner-up with Uruguay at the U-20 World Cup in Turkey in 2013 . Altogether, Cubero has so far (as of July 5, 2013) completed 13 U-20 internationals (16 goals against).
