Jonathan Paiement (born March 7, 1985 in Montréal , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Innsbruck in the Austrian National League since August 2011 .

Career

Jonathan Paiement began his career as an ice hockey player in the Canadian junior league QMJHL , in which he was active from 2001 to 2006 for the Castors de Sherbrooke and, after their relocation, for their successor Lewiston MAINEiacs . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the eighth round as a total of 247th player by the New York Rangers , for which he however never played. Instead, the defender spent four years in the American Hockey League with the Rockford IceHogs , Hershey Bears and Albany River Rats , as well as in the ECHL with the Texas Wildcatters and Florida Everblades from 2006 to 2010 .

For the 2010/11 season Paiement received a contract with the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League . For the following season, the Canadian was signed by the Austrian second division club HC Innsbruck , with whom he won the championship of the Austrian National League in the 2011/12 season.
