Ice hockey has been practiced in Jonsdorf in the Zittau Mountains since around 1954. From the mid-1990s, the ZSG Jonsdorf organized the game operation. In 2006, the ice hockey department of the ZSG became the EHC Jonsdorfer Falken , which was accepted into the league in2010. In 2015 the EHC went bankrupt and was replaced by the ESC Jonsdorf in 1954 .

After ice hockey teams had existed in the Zittau district since 1954, the ice hockey section was founded in 1996 within the ZSG Jonsdorf .

From the 1997/98 season, the first team with the nickname Falken took part in the Landesliga Sachsen Gruppe Ost in the game. At the end of the 2001/02 season, ZSG Johnsdorf qualified for the Sachsenliga and was promoted to it. After the team had finished fifth in the first season of the new division, they reached the playoff final in 2004, in which they lost 3:11 to 1. FEV Klingenthal / Brunndöbra. In 2006 the ZSG again reached second place in the Sachsenliga.

EHC Jonsdorfer Falken (2006-2015)

Before the 2006/07 season, the new club EHC Jonsdorfer Falken emerged from the sporting area of ​​the ice hockey division of the ZSG and the sponsoring association founded in 1997 . At ZSG, the ice hockey department continued to exist in the form of teams organized as a hobby. In the first season the club was champion of the Sachsenliga and rose to the Regionalliga Ost . After a restructuring of the upper and regional leagues, the EHC Jonsdorfer Falken was included in the Oberliga Ost in 2010 .

In addition to the first team, a girls' team named Jonsdorfer Eishasen took part in the game under the umbrella of the club .

The association filed for bankruptcy at the end of September 2014. The further participation of the youth teams for the 2014/15 season took place as syndicates under the leadership of ELV Niesky . Since a provisional insolvency administrator was only appointed by the competent Dresden District Court in November 2014, the Jonsdorfer Falken league team did not take part in the Oberliga Ost games. With the decision of the Dresden District Court on February 3, 2015, the association was dissolved as part of the insolvency proceedings.

New start as ESC Jonsdorf (since 2015)

In March 2015, a new association was founded with the ESC Jonsdorf 1954 Zittau Mountains . He started in the Regionalliga Ost in autumn 2015 .
