Joost Barbiers (born February 23, 1949 in Velsen , Netherlands ; † November 14, 2015 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch sculptor . a Dutch master of abstract art .

life and work

From 1969 to 1974 Barbiers studied sculpture with Cor Hund and Theresia van der Pant at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam . Initially, Barbiers worked as a stone sculptor with marble and limestone , later he used more hard stones such as granite . From 1980 to 1989 he took part in various sculpture symposia in Brač ( Croatia ), Carrara ( Italy ), Pêro-Pinheiro ( Portugal ), Zimbabwe , Ireland and in Brittany ( France ).

The artist lives in Amsterdam and works in his studio in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel . The sculptor's workshop was in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel . He died in Amsterdam November 14, 2015.
