Joosu (German Waimel-Neuhof ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in southeast Estonia . It belongs to the Põlva Municipality (until 2017 Laheda ) in the Põlva County .

Population and location

The village has 90 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located ten kilometers northeast of the city of Võru .

Well

The local estate was separated from the Väimela ( Waimel ) farm in the first half of the 18th century . The Baltic German military and circumnavigator Ferdinand von Wrangel (1797-1870) spent his childhood there.

The elongated, single-storey mansion was built in the second half of the 18th century in the style of early classicism . The rooms are arranged as a suite . It is in ruins today.

A granary has been preserved from the outbuildings .
