Jorochito is a country town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Jorochito is a central place in the canton of Jorochito and the second largest town in the district (Bolivian: Municipio ) El Torno in the province of Andrés Ibáñez . The city is located at an altitude of 567 m on the right bank of the Río Piraí .
geography
Jorochito is located in the tropical, humid climate on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental . The region was covered by tropical wet forest before colonization , but is now mostly cultivated land .
The mean average temperature of the region is 24 ° C, the annual precipitation is 950 mm (see climate diagram La Angostura). The monthly average temperatures fluctuate between 20 ° C in July and 26 ° C in December and January, the monthly precipitation is abundant from November to March and is over 100 mm, the climate from June to September is arid with precipitation below 40 mm.
Transport network
To the northwest of Jorochito and 42 kilometers by road is Santa Cruz , the capital of the department.
From the center of Santa Cruz, the paved road Ruta 7 leads as a four-lane " Grigota Avenue " in a south-westerly direction to La Guardia and on via El Torno and Limoncito to Jorochito . Fifteen kilometers south of the city, the road leaves the lowlands at La Angostura and climbs the Cordillera in a westerly direction via Samaipata to Cochabamba .

Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of El Torno 27.7 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
