José Ferrer Esteve de Fujadas ( cat. Josep Ferrer i Esteve de Pujadas * 13. March 1835 in Girona , † 7. March 1916 in Barcelona ) was a Spanish guitarist , composer and music educator .

Life

Ferrer grew up in Torroella de Montgrí . He learned the guitar from his father and from the age of 25 with José Broca in Barcelona. After Broca's death, Ferrer moved to Paris to teach there. In 1898 he returned to Barcelona and became a guitar teacher at the Conservatorio del Liceo . He was u. a. friends with Auguste Zurfluh (student of Tárrega ). Ferrer composed primarily for his female students and gave concerts (also in a duet with José Viñas ). His works Memories of Yester-year and six minuets won awards.
