José Luis Amezcua Melgoza (born May 2, 1938 in Purépero ) is a Mexican clergyman and emeritus bishop of Colima .

Life

José Luis Amezcua Melgoza was ordained a priest on December 22, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Campeche on May 9, 1995 .

The Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico , Girolamo Prigione , donated him episcopal ordination on June 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Emilio Carlos Berlie Belaunzarán , Archbishop of Yucatán , and Carlos Suárez Cázares , Bishop of Zamora .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Colima on June 9, 2005 .

On November 11, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
