Emilio Carlos Berlie Belaunzarán (born November 4, 1939 in Aguascalientes , Mexico ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and retired Archbishop of Yucatán .

Life

Pope Paul VI ordained him a priest on July 3, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tijuana on June 3, 1983 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico , Girolamo Prigione , donated him episcopal ordination on July 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Salvador Quezada Limón , Bishop of Aguascalientes , and Juan Jesús Posadas Ocampo , Bishop of Cuernavaca .

He was named Archbishop of Yucatán on March 15, 1995, and was introduced to office on April 29 of the same year.

In 2013 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed member of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 1, 2015.
