Manuel Castro Ruiz (born November 9, 1918 in Morelia , Michoacán , Mexico ; † November 18, 2008 ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Yucatán .

Life

Manuel Castro Ruiz studied at the Seminary of Morelia and the Palafoxiana of Puebla. He was ordained a priest on June 19, 1943 by Archbishop Luis Altamirano .

On July 21, 1965, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Cincari and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Yucatán . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Fernando Ruiz y Solózarno on 27 December of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Koadjutorerzbischof of Morelia , Archbishop Manuel Martín del Campo Padilla , and the Bishop of Ciudad Altamirano , Juan Navarro Ramirez .

He attended the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On September 20, 1969, he was appointed Archbishop of Yucatán.

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on March 15, 1995. He died of complications from cardiovascular disease.
