Josef Šedivý O.Cr. (Born July 9, 1967 in Košice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech, Roman Catholic clergyman and Grand Master of the Lords of the Cross with the Red Star .

Life

Josef Šedivý was born in Košice, Slovakia, but his parents come from Moravská Nová Ves in Moravia . In 1971 the family moved to Teplice . He first studied at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Charles University in Prague in Hradec Králové ( Pharm.Dr ).

In 1990 he entered the theological convent of Litoměřice ( Leitmeritz a) and studied from 1991 philosophy and theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague. In 1994 he joined the Order of the Lords of the Cross with the Red Star and made temporary vows after his novitiate. In 1997 he was ordained a priest by František Lobkowicz OPraem , Bishop of Ostrava-Troppau . He was pastor in Věteřov and administrator in Želetice u Kyjova .

On June 20, 2011, Josef Šedivý was elected the 48th Grand Master of the Order of the Cross with the Red Star, founded in 1233, for a period of six years. After confirmation by the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and for the Societies of Apostolic Life of the Roman Curia , the ordination as Grand Master of the Order took place on September 14, 2011 in the Church of the Cross of St. Francis of Assisi in Prague's old town . The Abtsbenediktion received his Dominik Cardinal Duka OP , Archbishop of Prague and Primate of Bohemia , along with Frantisek Lobkowicz , January Baxant , Michael Joseph Pojezdný , Francis Radkovský and Maximilian Fürnsinn .
