Josef Bäuml

Josef Bäuml is a German psychiatrist , author of several specialist books, as well as a private lecturer (PD) and former senior physician (Ltd. OA) at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

Life

Josef Bäuml studied German and theology at the University of Regensburg from 1975 to 1976 . He then switched to medicine , and from 1976 to 1978 the clinical preparatory course at the University of Regensburg followed . For clinical studies from 1978 to 1983, Josef Bäuml went to the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In May 1983, he gained his license to practice as a doctor .

Josef Bäuml found his first job from 1983 to 1984 in the senior citizens ' day clinic at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the TUM. From 1984 to 1988 he worked in acute psychiatry at the Klinikum rechts der Isar at TUM.

In 1986 Josef Bäuml completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich. The topic of his dissertation was: Short-term history of patients after a suicide attempt in younger and middle adulthood. Comparison of results with a study on suicide attempt patients in older age .

From 1988 to 1989 he worked in the neurological clinic at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the TUM. This was followed by ten years of work in acute psychiatry at the Klinikum rechts der Isar at TUM from 1989 to 1999. In addition, Josef Bäuml performed psychiatric consulting services and consulting services in the toxicological department.

In 1992 he became a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and in 1997 senior physician at the TUM Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

Since February 1, 2000, Josef Bäuml has been senior physician in charge of the clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy at TUM and is also senior physician in charge of the acute psychiatric department.

Josef Bäuml is married and has three children.

Activity and scientific focus

Josef Bäuml's specialty is treatment with a well thought-out combination of psychotropic drugs and psychotherapy with the systematic involvement of relatives ( psychoeducation ). The person concerned is carefully informed about the background information on their mental disorder . At the same time, the relatives receive information in separate groups. The intervention of the families causes the relapse rates to decrease significantly. This treatment method is particularly suitable for schizophrenia , mood disorders , anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders, as well as eating and personality disorders .

Furthermore, he is a consultant in the advanced training of the Bavarian State Medical Association (BLÄK), in the IFT Institute for Therapy Research , in the State Association of Members of the Mentally Ill, etc.

In addition, Josef Bäuml was co-organizer of the German Psychoeducation Congress in Berlin .
