Josef Beck (physician)

Josef Beck (born April 26, 1891 in Munich , † June 15, 1966 in Würzburg ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

He was the son of rentiers Wilhelm Beck and his wife Kinigunde born Zuber. After attending the humanistic grammar school in Munich, he studied medicine at the University of Munich from 1910 and received his license to practice medicine in 1917. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a volunteer .

On 16 May 1919 his doctorate he in Munich to Dr med. In November 1919 Josef Beck became a volunteer assistant at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic in Munich. later he became an official assistant and then a senior physician. In 1926 he completed his habilitation with B. Heine as a private lecturer in Munich. In 1930 he became an associate professor. In 1934 he briefly took over the provisional management of the laryngological polyclinic in Munich and then settled as a specialist in Munich.

In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . In 1940 he returned from military service.

After the Second World War , Josef Beck first became a substitute and then, from 1948, director of the ENT clinic at Erlangen University Hospital and at the same time a full professor. In 1959 he retired , but he was still in office until 1960 before he retired.

Georg Hans Birnmeyer and Hermann Blümlein are among his students.

He was a member of the Society of German Otolaryngologists and the Görres Society .

family

He married Emiliy nee Ver Hees on October 20, 1920. The son Hermann Dietrich (* 1929) emerged from the joint marriage. They lived in Munich, Herzog-Heinrich-Strasse 13.
