Josef Correggio
Joseph Correggio (born November 20, 1810 in Wolfratshausen , † December 7, 1891 in Munich ) was a German painter , singer and copyist .
He came from a family of chimney sweeps who had emigrated from Italy and who were employed at Nymphenburg Palace .
Corregio studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Johann Georg Hiltensperger .
Josef Correggio mainly painted still lifes , but also copied works by other painters. Correggio also appeared in small roles as a singer in the Munich Opera .
He was the father of the painters Ludwig Correggio (1846–1920 or 1930) and Max Correggio (1854–1908).
