Josef Horlenius
Josef Horlenius (* around 1460 in Siegen ; † December 1521 in Münster ; also Joseph Horlenius ) was a German humanist and poet .
Horlenius attended the Latin school in Deventer under the rector Alexander Hegius . It is unclear whether he met Rudolf von Langen , with whom he was on friendly terms, at this time . Around 1486 he became rector of the Latin school in Münster. Under his direction, among others, Petrus Mosellanus was taught. 1507 or 1508 he was appointed a teacher at the Cathedral School in Muenster appointed . There he learned Greek from around 1513 with Johannes Caesarius . Before 1517 he probably entered the clergy . In 1521 he died of the plague in office as vice rector .
