Josef Wendelin "Jo" Lang (born April 29, 1954 in Aristau ; legal domicile there ) is a Swiss historian and politician ( alternative ).

Political career

Lang was elected to the Zug municipal council for the Socialist Workers' Party (SAP) in 1982 and was one of the founding members of the Socialist Green Alternative Zug (SGA) in 1986 . Lang was President of the SGA from March 1991 to March 1997. The local groups have joined forces in the Alternative Kanton Zug , of which Lang has been president since April 2006.

In 1994, Lang moved from the municipal council to the Cantonal Council of Zug, from which he resigned in 2004. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2003 , Lang was elected to the National Council as one of three members of the Canton of Zug . There he was a member of the Green Group . Lang was co-founder of the group for a Switzerland without an army (GSoA). In the elections of October 23, 2011 , he was not re-elected by 150 votes because the linked lists of his party and the SP lost share of the vote. On April 21, 2012, Lang was elected to the four-person Vice Presidium of the Swiss Green Party .

Professional career

Lang received his doctorate in 1980 under Rudolf von Albertini at the University of Zurich. He works as a vocational school teacher. In 1981, due to his criticism of the Zug financial center, he was banned from working at the Zug Cantonal School . For this reason, he has been teaching at the Zurich construction trade school since 1982. In 1996 the Zug government apologized for the ban. Since September 2013 he has been writing - together with Franz Jaeger - a column for the NZZ am Sonntag .

Private

He held the rank of soldier in the Swiss Army . Lang has been married since 2003 and has lived in Bern since 2012.
