Josef Lax
Josef Lax (born May 19, 1851 in Vienna ; † March 13, 1909 there ) was an Austrian sculptor of historicism .
Life
Josef Lax studied from 1866 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Franz Bauer and Carl Kundmann . After study trips back to Vienna, he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1876 . After his death, Lax was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (grave 41 A / 1/4).

Josef Lax worked in the then prevailing style of historicism. Above all, he created sculptures for the design of various monumental buildings in the Vienna Ringstrasse zone as well as grave monuments.
