Eduard Herbst
Eduard Herbst (born December 9, 1820 in Vienna ; † June 25, 1892 there ) was an Austrian legal scholar and politician .
Herbst received a professorship at the University of Lviv in 1847 and moved to the Charles University in Prague in 1858 . In 1861 he became a member of the Bohemian Landtag and the Austrian Imperial Council , where he made a name for himself as a spokesman for the German representatives. Of 30 December 1867 to the April 12, 1870 fall was in " citizen's ministry " kk Minister of Justice .
In the summer of 1878, at Herbst's suggestion, the emperor entrusted the Cisleithan finance minister Sisinio von Pretis-Cagnodo with the formation of a new government. However, since Herbst did not want to participate in the formation of the government, Pretis put the order back.
The grave of honor for autumn is located in Vienna's central cemetery (group 14 A, number 22). In 1883, Herbststrasse was named after him in Vienna- Ottakring (16th district) .
