Josef Parschalk
Josef Parschalk (born May 31, 1864 in Castelrotto ; † July 5, 1932 in Vienna ) was a South Tyrolean sculptor and restorer.

Parschalk attended the art school in Val Gardena and then worked in Ferdinand Demetz's workshop in Ortisei and with J. von Blaas in Innsbruck . In 1888 he went to Vienna, where he worked with the sculptors Sterrer, Erler, Penk and Franz Barwig . From 1898 Parschalk worked in his own studio in Vienna.
Works (selection)
- The monument to Katharina Lanz in Buchenstein from 1912 is his most famous work.
- Vienna, Antoniuskirche . In the chancel there is a carved wooden statue of Our Lady of Lourdes . It was donated in 1901 by "several benefactors" and made by the academic sculptors Franz Barwig and Josef Parschalk.
- Staatz-Kautendorf - war memorial at the foot of the Staatz mountain. A larger than life angel of peace made from sand-lime brick. Was appointed on September 8, 1923 by the Army Provost Prelate Dr. Pawlikowsky inaugurated. The "Michl", as the statue was popularly called, holds the lowered sword in his right hand and a laurel and oak wreath in his left. The head is covered by a helmet.
- Vienna, Sacred Heart of Jesus Atonement Church . In the center of the apse is the statue of Christ the King and the Sacred Heart of Jesus created by Josef Parschalk in 1932.
