Josef Priemetshofer

Josef Priemetshofer (born October 28, 1930 in Mönchdorf ; † January 6, 2010 in Steyr ) was a metal sculptor , painter , graphic artist , cultural advisor, preservationist and restorer . He lived and worked in Steyr.

After elementary school, Priemetshofer attended the arts and crafts school of the Federal Trade School in Steyr . His teachers were Hans Gerstmayr (steel cutting) and Karl A. Krepcik (painting). He then studied painting, sculpture and restoration a. a. in Munich, Vienna and Graz. He was for a long time as a molder in the VÖEST operates. Helmuth Gsöllpointner appointed him from 1973 to 1983 as a lecturer at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz .

His artistic work extended to the creation of contemporary artistic works in public areas and sacred buildings as well as restoration work on historical secular and cult buildings .

From 1977 he worked as a cultural advisor for the municipalities of Bad Zell , Pierbach and the city of Perg .

Priemetshofer was married and the father of four sons and one daughter.
