Josef Schädler

Josef "Sepp" Schädler (born April 11, 1930 in Triesen ; † May 13, 2012 in Triesenberg ) was a Liechtenstein painter and draftsman .

biography

After completing his apprenticeship as a painter, Schädler attended the Basel School of Applied Arts for four years , among others with the teachers Bodmer and Ebble. At the age of 24 he opened his own painting business in Triesen, which later developed into a special atelier for screen printing and lettering. During these years he devoted himself intensively to drawing and free painting in addition to his manual livelihood as a painter and screen printer. In 1962 he was invited to his first exhibition in Krefeld . Now one became aware of the artist in the closer home. His first solo exhibition in Vaduz followed just a year later .

One after the other, the artist went public with his painting in Switzerland , Germany , Austria , Monaco and of course in Liechtenstein. Until the end of the nineties, solo exhibitions or participation in exhibitions followed almost every year. In addition, there were public commissions such as the design of Liechtenstein postage stamps and various works of art on public buildings in Liechtenstein. His area of ​​activity included painting in watercolor and acrylic , murals, drawings, graphics, screen printing, sculptures, photography, building design and art in building.
