Josef Jacob Stanglmeier (born December 25, 1918 in Abensberg , Lower Bavaria , † June 25, 1999 in Regensburg ) was a German building contractor, politician and benefactor.

As a city councilor and 2nd mayor of the city of Abensberg and as a member of the Kelheim district council , he played a key role in shaping local events for more than 30 years. Elected to the Bavarian Senate by the handicraft group , he was also responsible as a parliamentarian in state politics.

He acted as vice-president of the Lower Bavaria-Upper Palatinate Chamber of Crafts . From January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1991, he was a representative of the trade in the Bavarian Senate . Until his death he remained Senator E. h.

family

Josef and Franziska Stanglmeier († 2008) had two children together, Renate and Josef, who were born in 1946 and 1953 and died in the 1970s at the age of 21 and 23 respectively.

He recognized paternity for a son born out of wedlock who was born in 1959. The paternity of an illegitimate daughter was fought for in court after his death.

Establishment of the company

In 1918, the year Josef Jacob Stanglmeier was born, his father Josef founded a paving and road construction company.

After training as a craftsman and studying civil engineering, the son had to fight as a tank pioneer in the Second World War in the war against the Soviet Union . After a serious war injury was Sergeant Stangl Meier released from military service.

In 1944 he joined the family business. In 1945 his father handed over the business to him. In the same year, on December 24, 1945, he married Franziska Paintl (1920–2008).

After the Second World War

After 1945 he continued to run his father's company. In the later years, the paving and road construction company grew with the financial support of his father-in-law into one of the largest East Bavarian construction companies with well over 1,000 employees, which was known beyond Germany. Under Josef Stanglmeier, the construction company was active in building construction, civil engineering, road and bridge construction as well as industrial construction, gas, water and pipeline construction and in project planning. There were z. B. Locks and barrages , manufacturing plants for the Bavarian engine works or sewage treatment plants were built. The field of activity extended to Libya , where the company was involved in the establishment of a university as part of a joint venture .

In 1989 the Josef Stanglmeier Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co KG with more than 600 employees was affiliated to Isar-Amperwerke AG and subsequently incorporated into E.ON Bayern AG .

The construction company has been owned by the Leitenmaier family since 2002.

WS - Baubetreuungs- und Verwaltungs GmbH

On October 20, 1950, Johann Paintl and his son-in-law Josef Stanglmeier founded WS - Wohnungs- und Siedlungsbau GmbH in Abensberg. An important goal after the war was to rebuild the homeland and to provide the refugees with housing. More than 1,000 apartments and more than 90 housing developments were built in the Bavarian homeland. In 1994 the company was renamed WS Baubetreuungs- und Verwaltungs GmbH . It is still active today.

Construction company Franz Wanninger and Stanglmeier Asphalt Mixing Plant (STAM)

In 1971 the Wanninger company in Cham was taken over. At that time, the Wanninger company was active in building construction, civil engineering and road construction. Wanninger was one of the leading construction companies in eastern Bavaria. The Franz Wanninger company as a subsidiary of IAW - Isar-Amperwerke AG - was strengthened and taken over in the southern Bavaria area as SEG - Süddeutsche Energieanlagen GmbH Rohrbau Cham.

In 1980 the company STAM Stanglmeier Asphaltmischwerk was founded. With this system, construction sites between Nuremberg and Munich and between Ingolstadt and Regensburg could then be supplied. STAM was sold again in 2009.

Josef Stanglmeier Foundation

The non-profit Josef Stanglmeier Foundation was set up on December 12, 1978 on the occasion of Josef Stanglmeier's 60th birthday. It supports various projects for youth, sport, science and culture (including, for example, the film Days Like Years ).

Since 1979 the event "Youth Creates Leisure Time" has been held in the districts of Kelheim, Cham, Dingolfing-Landau and Landshut with well over 4,000 young people every year, giving participants the opportunity to present their ingenuity and creativity to the public. In addition, the Josef Stanglmeier Foundation enables students at the OTH Regensburg and the Landshut University of Applied Sciences to exchange experiences with fellow students abroad. The grants for internships abroad serve this purpose.

Josef Stanglmeier Hall

The Josef-Stanglmeier-Halle was built in 1995 in the building complex of the Aumühle leisure center in Abensberg. It is a modern multi-purpose hall with all technical equipment for sports and various events, such as B. Concerts and receptions. The Josef-Stanglmeier-Halle has an area of ​​1,200 m² and offers space for 1,000 spectators with 700 grandstand seats.

Judo is trained here as part of the differentiated school sport. Affiliated to the Josef-Stanglmeier-Halle is the “State Base Bavarian Judo Association”, the “Young Talent Center of the German Judo Association” and the “Elite School of Sports”. Large sporting events up to the European Cup have been carried out so far. A special occasion is the annual closing event of "Youth Creates Leisure Time".
