Josef Stollenwerk (* July 28, 1930 ; † June 8, 2016 ) was a Rhenish entrepreneur and carnivalist.

In 1950, Josef and his brother Willy took over the canning factory founded in 1932 by their parents Hubert and Elisabeth Stollenwerk, today's J. & W. Stollenwerk oHG , one of the largest canning manufacturers in Europe. The parental estate Burgmühle is right next to the moated castle.

Together with his brother Willy (born January 15, 1935) Josef bought the Wasserburg Bergerhausen in 1984 and completely renovated it. Both families live in the castle. In the outbuildings there is also a tractor museum , in which mainly Lanz Bulldog can be found. According to his last wish, Josef's coffin was once driven around the castle on a trailer of a 60-year-old Lanz Bulldog before he was buried in the family crypt of the moated castle.

Stollenwerk was very committed to volunteering. Among other things, he worked for decades on the board of the Federal Association of the Fruit, Vegetable and Potato Processing Industry and was made honorary president in 2010. In addition, he was Honorary President of the Federal Association for Business, Transport and Logistics (BWVL) and its President from 1993 to 2002.

Stollenwerk was very much connected to the Rhenish carnival . For 54 years he was a member of Cologne's oldest traditional carnival corps, the Kölschen Funke rut-wieß vun 1823 e. V. The sparks gave him the nickname Knollejupp . In 1967 Knollejupp was the virgin in the Cologne triumvirate .

Stollenwerk had been a member of the Kerpen voluntary fire brigade , extinguishing group Blatzheim , and temporarily its head , since 1947 . This commitment was also the reason for the establishment of a company fire brigade with a large fire engine, which is otherwise not common in such companies.

In 1987 Josef Stollenwerk was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his social commitment .

Stollenwerk had been married to Christina Wilkens since 1955 and had three children. He was buried on June 18, 2016 after a memorial service the evening before in the parish church of St. Kunibert in Kerpen-Blatzheim on the grounds of Bergerhausen Castle.
