Josef Wahl (painter)

Josef Wahl (born September 4, 1875 in Düsseldorf , † 1951 ibid) was a German portrait , history and church painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Wahl received artistic training at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he studied from 1890 to 1894. There Adolf Schill , Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Arthur Kampf and Peter Janssen the Elder were his teachers.

Above all, Wahl created portraits and religious representations to decorate Roman Catholic places of worship. His portraits were represented in the Great German Art Exhibition from 1937 to 1943.
