Joseph Atanga

Joseph Atanga SJ (born August 14, 1952 in Akok-Bekoe ) is Archbishop of Bertoua .

Life

Joseph Atanga joined the religious community of Jesuits and was ordained a priest on July 11, 1987 . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Bafoussam on June 22, 1999 .

The apostolic nuncio in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea , Félix del Blanco Prieto , consecrated him on September 18 of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were André Wouking , Archbishop of Yaoundé , and Athanase Bala CSSp , Bishop of Bafia .

He was named Archbishop of Bertoua on December 3, 2009 and was introduced to the office on January 30, 2010.
