Roger Pirenne

Roger Pirenne CICM (born August 9, 1934 in Clermont-sur-Berwinne ) is old archbishop of Bertoua .

Life

Roger Pirenne joined the religious community of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and was ordained a priest on August 3, 1958 .

John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Batouri on February 3, 1994 . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Cameroon , Gabon and Equatorial Guinea , Santos Abril y Castelló , on May 22nd of the same year; Co- consecrators were Paul Mbiybe Verdzekov , Archbishop of Bamenda , and Jean Zoa , Archbishop of Yaoundé .

On June 3, 1999, he was named Archbishop of Bertoua . On December 3, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.

In 2013, the Archdiocese of Bertoua transferred a priest to the laity for sexual abuse . The priest later worked in the Archdiocese of Cologne . The Archdiocese was 2018 church and prosecute the priest who, despite secularization had submitted a letter of Pirenne, because of fraud involved and warned against the former priest.
