Joseph Doms
Joseph Doms (born January 1, 1782 in Niederpreschkau near Tetschen in Northern Bohemia ; † August 18, 1853 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia ) was a German merchant and tobacco industrialist.
Life and work
After completing his commercial apprenticeship in Breslau, Joseph Doms took over his father-in-law's business in Ratibor in 1811 . In 1815 he started making snuff . In addition to the snuff factory, other companies for the production of chewing tobacco and tobacco products were later maintained.
His son Heinrich Doms (1830–1906) was a tobacco industrialist and head of the Joseph Doms trading company . His great-grandson Julius Doms was a business lawyer and entrepreneur.
