Joseph Louis Aldée Desmarais

Joseph Louis Aldée Desmarais (born October 31, 1891 in Saint-Éphrem-d'Upton , Québec , Canada , † September 9, 1979 in Saint-Hyacinthe ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Amos .

Life

Joseph Louis Aldee Desmarais received on 25 July 1914 by the Bishop of Nicolet , Joseph Simon Herman Brunault , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On January 30, 1931, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to titular bishop of Ruspae and auxiliary bishop in Saint-Hyacinthe . The Apostolic Delegate in Canada, Archbishop Andrea Cassulo , donated him episcopal ordination on April 22nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Montréal , Alphonse Emmanuel Deschamps , and the bishop of Valleyfield , Joseph Alfred Langlois .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on June 20, 1939 as the first bishop of Amos. The inauguration took place on September 20 of the same year. Desmarais attended the first, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On October 31, 1968, Pope Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Joseph Louis Aldée Desmarais and appointed him titular bishop of Medeli . Desmarais renounced the titular diocese of Medeli on December 8, 1970.
