Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill OP , in Catalan Josep Sadoc Alemany i Conill , (born July 13, 1814 in Vic , Catalonia , Spain , † April 14, 1888 in Valencia ) was Archbishop of San Francisco .

Life

Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill joined the religious order of the Dominicans at and received on 11 March 1837, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 31, 1850, Pope Pius IX appointed him . to the Bishop of Monterey . The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Giacomo Filippo Cardinal Fransoni , ordained him episcopal on June 30 of the same year ; Co-consecrator was the Patriarch of Jerusalem , Giuseppe Valerga .

On July 29, 1853, Pius IX appointed him. to the Archbishop of San Francisco. Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill resigned as Archbishop of San Francisco on December 21, 1884 and was named Titular Archbishop of Pelusium on March 20, 1885 .
