Patrick William Riordan (born August 27, 1841 in Chatham , New Brunswick , Canada , † December 27, 1914 ) was Archbishop of San Francisco .

Life

Patrick William Riordan received on 10 June 1865, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 17, 1883 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Cabasa and ordered him to Koadjutorerzbischof of San Francisco. The Archbishop of Chicago , Patrick Augustine Feehan , donated him episcopal ordination on September 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Louisville , William George McCloskey , and the Bishop of Vincennes , Francis Silas Marean Chatard . On December 21, 1884, Patrick William Riordan became Archbishop of San Francisco, succeeding the resigned Joseph Sadoc Alemany y Conill OP .
