Joseph Sickenberger

Joseph Sickenberger (born March 19, 1872 in Kempten (Allgäu) , † March 27, 1945 in Kitzbühel ) was a German Catholic theologian.

Career

Sickenberger received his ordination as a priest in 1896. After his habilitation for New Testament science, he became an associate professor for patrology at the University of Munich in 1903 . From 1905 he taught patrology and Christian archeology in Würzburg , from 1906 exegesis in Breslau . From 1924 until the closure of the theological faculty in 1939 he was full professor for New Testament exegesis and biblical hermeneutics in Munich.

In 1902 he founded the Biblical Journal together with Johann Göttsberger .
