Joseph Spiteri (born May 20, 1959 in Sliema , Malta ) is a Maltese clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1984 by the Archbishop of Malta , Joseph Mercieca .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 21, 2009 titular archbishop pro hac vice of Serta and apostolic nuncio in Sri Lanka . The episcopal ordination donated him to the Cardinal Secretary of State and Cardinal Chamberlain , Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone SDB , on May 24 of that year; Co- consecrators were Paul Cremona OP , Archbishop of Malta, and Joseph Mercieca, Senior Archbishop of Malta.

On October 1, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Spiteri Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire . On March 7, 2018, the Pope appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Lebanon .
