Joshua Bruneau

Joshua "Josh" Bruneau (born June 23, 1988 in Waterbury Center , Vermont ) is an American jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Bruneau first studied baseball in his youth before turning to classical music. At the age of ten he discovered jazz and took trumpet lessons. During this time he heard recordings by musicians such as John Coltrane , Sonny Rollins , Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker . At a young age he began to form his own bands and play on site; soon he toured with a local big band . He attended Harwood Union High School in Duxbury, Vermont; in the fall of 2006 he began studying at the Jackie McLean Institute at the University of Hartford . His main mentors were Nat Reeves and Steve Davis , with whom he would record in the following years.

While still a student, Bruneau performed regularly in New York City in jazz clubs such as Smoke and Smalls . In 2011 he played with one of his mentors, Curtis Fuller , at the Detroit Jazz Festival . He has also performed with Harold Mabern , Mike LeDonne , Eric Alexander , Joe Farnsworth , Carl Allen , John Webber , Ken Fowser and Larry Willis . In 2014 Bruneau released his debut album Bright Idea (Cellar Live). In the field of jazz, he was involved in nine recording sessions between 2010 and 2018.
