Nat Reeves
Nat Reeves (* 27. May 1955 in Lynchburg ( Virginia as) Nathaniel Garfield Reeves ) is an American jazz musician ( bass , vocals ) and university teachers.

Reeves began playing the electric bass at the age of 16 , which he got from his grandfather, the blues guitarist Russell Jackson. He first founded the band Acoustics , which had a top 40 hit. In 1979 he moved to New York City , where he performed with Kenny Garrett , Mulgrew Miller and Jo Jones and at jam sessions at the Jazz Forum . In 1982 he toured Japan with Sonny Stitt for two weeks before moving to Hartford, Connecticut and working with Jackie McLean . During this time he began teaching at the University of Hartford , and he also worked with the Artists Collective , which he founded with his wife Dollie. In the following years Reeves also played with Pharoah Sanders , René McLean , Harold Mabern , Steve Davis , Eric Alexander , David Hazeltine , Mike Clark , Houston Person , Larry Willis , Pat Metheny , Mike LeDonne , John Scofield , Jack Wilson , Curtis Fuller , Eddie Henderson , Joe Farnsworth , Javon Jackson , Junko Ōnishi and Benny Green . In 2012 Reeves released the album State of Emergency ( 482 Music ) under his own name . In the field of jazz, Reeves participated in 46 recording sessions between 1984 and 2012, including with Kenny Garrett and Randy Johnston . Reeves lives in Hartford, Connecticut and teaches at the Hartschool at the University of Hartford .
