Josip Glasnović

Josip Glasnović (born May 7, 1983 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian sports shooter .

Josip Glasnović starts like his two years older brother Anton Glasnović for SD GAJ Dubrava . Both are successful in the trap . Josip started shooting in 1999, a year later he was third in the European Junior Championships in double trap. In 2001 he was sixth in double trap and 18th in trap at the Junior World Championships. At the Junior European Championships he was seventh in double trap in 2001 and fourth in 2002.

In the adult class he won the bronze medal at the World Trap Championships in 2005. In 2007 he was third at the European Trap Championships. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, he finished fifth in the trap. In the next few years he did not reach a final at international championships. It was not until 2012 that he won bronze in the trap at the European Championships. Giovanni Cernogoraz and Anton Glasnović competed for Croatia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London .

In 2013 Josip Glasnović won the European Trap Championship, in 2015 he was sixth at the European Championships and in 2016 he won the silver medal. At the European Games in Baku, he missed the final round with 21st place. His sporting career peaked at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. While Giovanni Cernogoraz, the 2012 Olympic champion, was eliminated in the qualification in ninth place, Josip Glasnović reached the final in third place. After he was tied with the Italian Giovanni Pellielo in the lead at the end of the final , Glasnović won the gold medal in the jump-off ahead of the Italian.

In 2017 he received the silver medal at the European Championships in Baku. In 2019, Josip Glasnović won a World Cup event for the first time when he set the world record in al-Ain with 125 hits in the preliminary round and 47 hits in the final.
