Lana Clelland (born January 26, 1993 in Perth , Scotland ) is a Scottish football player . The striker plays in the Serie A in Italy since 2018 for the women's team of Fiorentina (ACF Fiorentina), and since 2012 for the Scottish national team .

Career

society

Clelland began her career with Rangers Girls FC. From 2008 she played in the first team that started playing in the First Division (third highest division in Scottish women's football) that year. The team won the championship and also reached the cup final in 2009 as the first sub-class club, but they lost 5-0 to Glasgow City LFC . In 2010 the Rangers played in the highest Scottish women's league and again the cup final could be reached, this time against Hiberian Edinburgh and with 1: 2 the defeat was less clear. In 2011 she moved to the Spartans WFC during the current season , where she stayed until 2014. She then moved to the sunny south, where she has since played for various clubs in the Serie A of women's football. In her first season in Italy she scored ten goals for ASD Pink Sport Time in Bari and thus almost half of the goals of her team, but could not prevent the club from being relegated to Serie B as third from bottom. She then switched to UPC Tavagnacco . Here she scored only five goals in the first season, but the club stayed fifth in the league. In 2016/17 the club was only sixth, but she was the top scorer in the league with 23 goals. In 2017/18 she was only the fifth best goalscorer with 13 goals, but her team improved to fourth place. For the 2018/19 season she moved to Florence, where she scored twelve goals in 17 games, was runner-up with the club and won the Supercup. Because Brescia, the runner-up of the previous season, was bought by AC Milan and thus lost their place in the Champions League , their new and old clubs played in a decider for the vacant place. Since her new club won 3-0, she was able to play Champions League for the first time. In the sixteenth finals, they met Danish champions Fortuna Hjørring and won both games 2-0, scoring both goals in Denmark. In the last sixteen they met the Chelsea Ladies . After a 0-1 away defeat, they lost the home game 6-0.

National team

Lana Clelland has played for the Scottish Association since 2008. She started with a game in the U-15 and then played in the U-17 . With the U-17 she took part in the qualification for the U-17 European Championship 2009 . She made her debut in the last group game of the first round against Switzerland. The game was lost 2-0, so that the Scottish women missed the second round as the third worst group runner-up. At a new attempt in October 2009 they won their first game against Lithuania 13-0, and they also scored two goals, but then lost to Austria and the Czech Republic. From April 2010 she played in the U-19 . With the U-19 she took part in the first qualifying round for the 2011 U-19 European Women's Football Championship . At the tournament in Sweden in September 2010 they were group winners, also thanks to their goal to beat the hosts 1-0. In the second round in spring 2011, when her team was eliminated, she was not there. She came back to play at the next attempt in September 2011 and scored three goals each in a 9-0 win against the Faroe Islands and 4-1 against Belarus. In the last game against the Finns, a 1-1 draw was enough for both of them to qualify for the second round. At the tournament in Russia in spring 2012 they were able to defeat the hosts 1-0 in their first game, but then lost to Italy (2-4) and Spain (2-3), which meant they were eliminated third in the group. With a goal against Spain, she said goodbye to the junior teams.

Three months later she made her senior team debut against Northern Ireland . In the 2-0 home win in Aberdeen , she was substituted on in the 64th minute. She then had to wait 13 months for her next assignment. In the 1-1 draw against Serbia on August 21, 2013 in Stara Pazova , she was substituted on for the final quarter of an hour and scored the equalizer in the final minute with her first international goal. She then had her third international match in December at the four-nation tournament in Brazil . In the third group game against Chile she was substituted on when the score was 2: 2 in the 70th minute (final score 3: 4). In the game for third place against Canada , they came on after an hour. After a brief assignment against Finland in February 2014 , she had to wait a year for the next assignment, but then only had a brief assignment of 27 minutes. At the Cyprus Cup 2015 she was used in two games, was in the starting line-up in the third group game against South Korea for the first time, but was substituted after 69 minutes. On November 29, 2015, she had her first competitive game in the 10-0 European Championship qualifier against Macedonia when she was substituted on in the 56th minute when the score was 7-0, but could not participate in the scoring. In 2016, in a year with only seven internationals, she only made one appearance as a substitute and did not contribute to the first qualification for a European Championship finals. In preparation for the EM, she was used more often again, but still only as a substitute. It was then for the EM nominated and arrived there in the three games are used. In their first European Championship game they met England and lost 6-0. Clelland was substituted at 0: 3 in the second half minute. In the second group game, in the 1: 2 against Portugal , she was back in the starting line-up for the first time, but was replaced in the 53rd minute. In the third game, which they won 1-0 against Spain , she was substituted on again in the second half. Since Portugal and Spain also lost to England, but the Spaniards won 2-0 against Portugal, the Scottish women were eliminated as third.

In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , it was used in two games. The Scottish women qualified for the first time for the World Cup, where they will meet England in the first game, as in the European Championship. On May 15, 2019 she was nominated for the World Cup . At the World Cup, she came on as a substitute in the 76th minute in the 1: 2 defeat against ex-world champions Japan and scored the goal for the Scottish women 12 minutes later.
