Ion Dumitrescu (born July 18, 1925 in Bucharest , † 1999 ) was a Romanian sports shooter .

Career

Ion Dumitrescu took part in four Olympic Games in the trap . In 1960 in Rome he achieved the best result of the competition with 192 points and was Olympic champion ahead of Galliano Rossini , who had scored 191 points, and Sergei Kalinin , who finished the competition with 190 points . At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 , he finished fifth, with 193 points, he missed another medal win by one point. Four years later he was eleventh in Mexico City , in 1972 he did not get past 30th place in Munich . At world championships he first won bronze with the team in Moscow in 1958 in the skeet . In Oslo Dumitrescu was runner-up with the Trap team in 1961 and secured bronze with her in 1966 in Wiesbaden .

After his active career he was, among other things, a trainer and functionary at the national shooting association.
