Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves

Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves SJ (born April 20, 1959 in Mérida , Spain ) is a Spanish Roman Catholic religious and Prefect of the Economic Secretariat of the Holy See .

Life

Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves joined the religious order of the Jesuits in 1979 and obtained a degree in economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 1986 . On May 30, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination . In 1993 Guerrero Alves obtained a degree in philosophy and literary studies and in 1994 a degree in Catholic theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas .

From 1994 to 2003 Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves was Professor of Social Philosophy and Political Science at the Pontifical University of Comillas. He was then master of novices for the Jesuits in Spain before becoming Provincial of the Order of Castile in 2008 . From 2015 to 2017 Guerrero Alves was an economist for the Jesuits in Mozambique and from 2016 also director of the College of St. Ignatius of Loyola . In 2017 Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves became Delegate of the Superior General for Houses and Interprovincial Works and General Council of the Jesuits.

On November 14, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Economic Secretariat of the Holy See.
